Default Cattleya walkeriana var. caerulea ‘Midnight Blue’

The color of this flower is an exceptionally beautiful shade of lilac, which I couldn’t capture accurately with my camera. The flower is small, but very nicely formed.

Divisions of this and some other great walkeriana cultivars are available at H&R Nurseries.

H&R have some of the best walkerianas around- I can only hope to be able to afford one some day! Thank you for sharing, what an exceptional flower. Is the fragrance just as nice?

Thanks for the comments. And Izzie, the fragrance of this first flower is somewhat weak. Although the division was very well grown at H&R, it was still adjusting to its new environment, medium, and general growing conditions when it budded. Maybe it's conserving some energy for now.

I also assume (based on the dark green color of its leaves) that the division did not get the daily hours of direct sunlight in its commercial greenhouse environment that it will be getting from now on.

I am fully confident that this plant will be putting out bigger and more strongly fragrant flowers in the future.
