Default Cattleya dowiana v aurea

Here's a summer bloom of one of our C. dowiana v. aureas. When it is very hot and bright, some of the yellow areas turn a little reddish.

The numerous yellow striations in the lip do change the lip color a bit. The fringe of the lip is purplish, whereas, the inner portions, with the yellow striations, appear to be more toward magenta.

Plants become fairly large, but I don't find this species to be difficult to grow. Probably as easy or easier than many standard cats.

Really nice coloration! I like the red in the petals and keep meaning to pick up one aurea, but just haven't gotten around to it. Is the red in the petals from high light levels or does it show up normally?

(Isurus. "Is the red in the petals from high light levels or does it show up normally?")

It's from the very high light & mid to high 80's temps when it bloomed.
