Those are great colors, Frederico. I can see the influence from L. purpurata. But what does C. mossiae impart? Maybe fullness of form? To me this one looks perhaps like a more robust-flowered L. purpurata. Does it have any of mossiae's wonderful scent?

Hi Steve!

I guess Jan answered your question! The scent is soft, but sweet, and yes, I guess I smell something of "lemon"!

Looks great! Is this one a clone or a more natural cross?

Thanks, Jan, for the information about many of the L. purpuratas that are sold over here being, in truth, hybrids instead of the species. I've also read the same thing about numerous clones of what is sold over here as Cattleya loddigesii--that is, that they are often hybrids of C. loddigesii instead. I have two plants of C. loddigesii that are just approaching flowering size. Since I bought them many years ago as small seedlings, I just hope that they turn out to actually be the species instead of the hybrid.

Frederico, now that you've mentioned the lemon scent to your plant's blooms, I want one even more!

Steve
