Default Blc. Yen Surprise 'Yen'

This is a hybrid I added to my collection several years ago mostly because of the round green flowers... This year I was surprised with yellow flowers! I honestly prefer it in green ! The second photo shows it how it was in past years.

I like the green too, Mauro. Any idea why the color change?

I suspect the medium pH has some influence, Kim. I shifted it from tree fern fiber to sphagnum and this is most likely the cause.

Yeah...pH can change the color of flowers, but I only know the red-purple-blue shift, never heard of yellow-green shift...interesting

I love them both... but the green is slightly my favourite.

How strange for it to change colour like that. I've heard of it in other plants with PH but it's quite cool to see in orchids like that!

The only sure way to know is to put it back in tree fern.

Rosie, my mention of the pH is just a guess, you know. I can't really say whether pH alone is the cause. Other causes may have played a role, like light intensity and also higher or lower temperatures during the bud formation.
