Default Laelia sincorana var. albescens

This is a species native to the Serra do Sincora, a complex of mountains in the centre of the State of Bahia, Brazil. It can be found up to almost 2000 meters above the sea level in bright places. The plants are really small with comparatively huge flowers.
A few varieties are known, like a pure alba, albescens, caerulea, concolor and suave.

I love the white simplicity with just a touch of purple on the lip. Fantastic!

Another beauty, Mauro. I'll be glad when my little caerulea is large enough to bloom.

I love the overall look of this one. It has a wonderful shape that just speaks to me. I am also a fan of white. Lovely.

Hold it! Where's the plant?! Mauro, did you just accidentally knock a flower off and decide to take a picture of it?

Oh, wait! There it is! That little green bit of leaf dwarfed by that huge, gorgeous flower!

JK. Wonderful Laelia, Mauro!

That's fantastic, Mauro. I have the standard, purple-flowered, variety, but it hasn't bloomed for me yet. Do you give this species a dry winter rest, or does it continue growing throughout the year?

Steve

Not exactly dry rest, STeve. I slow down a little the waterings in the winter, but don't keep it completely dry!
