Default Bl Caribbean Holiday

This started blooming today...I've been watching it like a hawk for weeks!

The tag says Schom undulata x B nodosa. I checked in Orchidwiz when I got it and found the name is Bl Caribbean Holiday. Today I double-checked for the name because I never changed the tag and found that now Schom undulata is known as L undulata.

I absolutely fell in love with it at the Tampa show on Halloween last year...and now I realize that those blooms must've been kind of old! The color difference is astounding

Yes, the cork is about 8 x 8 and the roots are embedded all around it!

Me too

I literally saw this one hanging under a vendor's tent at the show from about 30 yards away...like I was under a trance, I walked over, took it down (saw a tag) and handed Ty money

Only then did I actually look at it closely

Beautiful! I am definitely a big fan of purple and this is a nice clear gem-like one. I also like the color it fades to.
Is it fragrant?

bingo

Wow, wonderful colour and such a difference from the faded version when you bought it.

Susanne

The plant and flower both look wonderful and probably needs the spacious setting and light you can provide to look its best.

The color change is amazing. Could it be like most Bl. hybrids that get lighter with age?

You're not kidding about the color difference! The whole plant is beautiful, Susanne. Love the color on this one and those roots...whoa!

P.S. I'm shopping for a new car now. If I get it before any of the autumn shows up your way, I'm driving up. Wanna have lunch?
