This particular plant I collected a few year back while on a hike (Manoa Trail) here on Oahu. These plants are introduced and are everywhere! Its pretty cool to be able to collect your own wild 'chids! Anyway, this is the first bloom I have seen from this plant and while today's pics are great, you get the point! There is a very nice, mild fragrance from these guys during midday. Im always amazed by the resemblance these flowers have to Cattleya tenebrosa. Convergent evolution is cool!

Very cool, Steve!

This is one of my favorite plants...and it just gets better each year! It's a lovely flower and the plant itself is great for foliage...it's pretty all the time

I should be posting pics of mine soon, it has 6 spikes getting ready to give a show!

Thanks for the pics, I love this orchid!! I saw one two years ago when I visited an orchid jungle in a greenhouse. I fell in love with it, just too bad it gets so big!

I love these almost as much a tenebrosa.
I never put them together before, but you're right on, Steve. Well done.

It's beautiful Steve! This and tenebrosa are a couple of my favorites. Unfortunately too big for my space.

Very nice Steve. I have often heard this plant referred to as the Nun's Orchid because the flower is supposed to resemble a Nun's habit. The plant itself is also said to resemble a seedling palm tree and I would have to agree.
