Default Help! My Iwan My Apple Blossom is growing something strange!

Could someone please explain what is growing from this plant? It had many bloom spikes last year and didn't send out anything like this. It looked like a spike at first then started changing into leaves and now it looks like this. Is it a keiki? or what? Thanks!

It appears that your plant has had some kind of stress and instead of developing a flower spike has started a new growth where the flower spike would have developed. I've seen it before, and it is probably harmless - in fact the new growth will likely produce roots and can then be potted on its own.

Ok, so treat it like a keiki, right? Two spikes are doing this but another 2 spikes look normal. Weird!

I am curious. Did you use a growth regulator like KLN or Superthrive?

Yes! I watered with superthrive one time a month ago before the spikes started. Could it do that?

Indeed. Treat it like a keiki.
I would suspect that Sun has hit the right answer - that the Superthrive is what caused this.

Yes, cool, but I would rather have flowers! Oh well, live and learn. I just bought that superthrive on impulse while at the AOS Garden Gift Shop. I had heard about it but never used it. I am not sure I like this affect! Thanks for the input!

Happens with lots of Dendros as well. You can either sacrifice the keiki or let it grow. Choice is yours.

Ok, an update on these crazy growths (new pics). Now they have decided to be bloom spikes again. They never grew any roots so they are not acting like keikis. I am convinced that it was caused by the superthrive.
