When I first read brown, green, pink, I thought ugh! But the softness of the pink really does it for me. It changed my thoughts completely. Very nice.

What a lovely variant! There seems to be a lot of variation in C. guttata and C. leopoldii; do you think there is a possible intergrade with another species involved here?

No, Phantasm, I don't believe! These clones I've been posting are from a diligent work Carlos Gomes has been doing with C. leopoldii in the last decades in Santa Catarina. He has been sib crossing different varieties targeting new color combinations, new shapes in Cattleya leopoldii. Kaingang is the product of two semi albas (the term is not correct, but... well, by semi alba I mean green petals without spots and purple lips). But, the ancestors of these two semi albas involve albas (green with pure white lips) and other color variations. By mixing genes from different varieties the new generations always come with surprising color and/or forrn, as is the case with these beautiful pink lips.
Years ago I acquired several seedlings of C. leopoldii from different sib crosses he made. They started blooming out now and some of them are clearly new varieties, like the two tri-lipped albas (again, the name is not correct, but...) that I posted the other day. And there are others in bud ready to open!
