Default Cattleya intermedia

This is a seedling showing its face for the first time. It is a sib cross between a variety punctata and another with wide petals. The idea behind this cross was to get plants with wide petals and spotted. Well... my plant got spots but... in the back !!!

I bet it looked like it was going to be full of spots, before the bud opened. I would say, "how disappointing", but there is nothing disappointing about that flower! Very nice, Mauro!

Yep! When the buds were developing and the spots became visible I already knew what was going to happen. The same thing had happened with a variety caerulea that flowered for the first time for me years ago. By the way, it was in flower last week. Take a look at them below. Though the spots are in the backside they can almost be seen through the sepals.

That's awesome! The spotting looks like it's on a Den Aussie Chip!

I just love cute little chids with freckles on their behinds.

Nice flower but too bad about the spots. Maybe you should place it in front of a mirror so when you look at it the spots would be visable?
