Dont know exactly what to think of this one. Has a new spike working n we give it some time to put forth another flower. This was a bare root division salvaged from hurricane Ian.

I will say it looks better than I thought it would when I read the title of your thread.

If you had a ton of patience and wanted to try something, see if getting about 10% myrmecophila into a cattleya with a short inflorescence helps it present flowers better. Other than that, I don't know why you'd do it.

oops .

Myrmecocattleya Memoria Louise Fuchs is the x factor.

and yes to shorten the spike down to 1ft from 3 to 4 ft, and hope for more flowers too

Myrmecocattleya Memoria Louise Fuchs

I couldnt find a picture of the one from the catalog that had been flowered.

Adams Orchids has a lot of these type of hybrids.

I have a Louise Fuchs. The thing is a beast. Every time I divide it I throw a chunk on one of my trees. Now it's everywhere.

Unfortunately, the flower spike is sometimes broken by our occasional high winds here.

ay yes then you are familiar with the plant and its aspects. this one is much smaller and we give it some more time as it seems to grow well and you can never complain with that
