Default Cattleya Nancy Off 'Linwood' AM/AOS

over the years I have managed to accumulate several standard white cattleya hybrids, from the old Bow Bells and Bob Betts to some newer cultivars. This one is still probably my favorite, with absolutely enormous flowers >8" across, massive overlapping petals, and room-filling fragrance. I find many cultivars might bloom a bit inconsistently (possibly due in part to culture), but this one has always produced perfect flowers for me. No wonder it got an 89 point AM in 2009, but it is better than any FCC white I have. The only knock is that it doesn't give you many flowers, I have only gotten 2 at a time.

This is an original division from Waldor, and I got it for a song years ago at a show. ('Linwood' has been mericloned as well). Used to be known as their '1010' cultivar as they grew many Nancy Off plants for cut flowers. Best 50 bucks I have ever spent!

Gorgeous!

I enjoyed reading the history of the various 'corsage' orchids on Chadwick and Son's website.

This is one of my favorite whites as well. Robbed of an FCC if you ask me. Congratulations and thank for sharing it.

judging is so subjective, and of course standards are always changing. I have a division of Earl 'Imperialis' FCC blooming right now, the shape is perfect but the flowers are significantly smaller than 'Linwood'. 6" vs 8" is a big difference!

That's pretty glorious. I can definitely see (and you can probably smell) the C. mossiae (and labiata) genes expressing themselves. Congratulations. I guess I need to pester the folks at Waldor to see if they have any left for sale.

Chadwick has some in their hybrid divisions list. 150, but I'm sure they are worth it!

I've seen Waldor sell this from time to time, both OG and mericlone divisions. I actually am going to pull off 3 backbulbs soon, since this plant insists on growing in a straight line. PMs welcome. (I usually like to wait for backbulbs to sprout before trading/selling, unless of course you are well versed and have the proper environment).
