Default Cattleya Kerrii

Hey my dear orchid lovers,

Does anyone of you have experience with fleeing a Cattleya Kerrii? I am trying my hand in Cattleya now, but I have medium light at best and from what I heard, Kerrii doesn’t need AS MUCH sun. I’m still happy for any other tips for medium light Cattleyas! Thx!

Mine always get taken down by mealies and scale, so keep an eye out for that! They seem especially prone to those pests.

Mealies are quite a problem for me, amplified by my old windows and cool windowsills. How much liegt does your Kerrii get?

The bugs killed all 3 plants I’ve purchased over the years! I was growing them a bit more shady than my other Catts though.

Sadly, I never took sunlight measurements at my previous property. But here's a video showing my former grow area, with the Cattleyas over my left shoulder. This video was probably shot around 9-10am in September and shows direct sun on the plants until around 11am or so, with dappled shading provided during the rest of the day by the oak trees.
