Orchids marketed by companies such as Better-Gro sell small plants petted (usually) in bark/perlite mix wrapped in either stretch netting or cellophane bags or both. We fondly call these "bag babies".
Up till say 10 yrs ago bag orchids and n9n-Phal. orchids were common in in Liwrs and Home Depot in my area of Pennsylvania, USA. Even big catts. One year, giant Cymbidiums. Got my first Vanda from Lowes. Then, suddenly, phals only. To this day.
What a great find!
We get them very rarely at one of the local Lowes...very rarely. It is usually one tray and not much variety, unfortunately. There is no care given to them once they arrive there and I usually discover them too late. I have a nice Brassavola nodosa I was lucky enough to find once.
