I always look at the plants and found this with some buds.I couldn't let it bud all alone, so I took it home.

And to thank me. it has 3 more spikes working.

Cant get these to do anything? Put it on the shelf in a bag and forget about it.

it is brassavola 'mas mejor' x self as it did come with a tag from better gro.

Ive had a few and they are big healthy plants all of them. They dont like being frozen and they like thawing out even less.. always good growers. this one is actually an "HR Tetra x Mas Mehor" after I dug the mud off the tag.

the orchids in the bags look better than the ones they been watering everyday for 2 weeks until they rot in the pot. yikes yes they do and we know it. feels good to save a few on occasion..

the lowes sunbulb baggies are always worth a close look. possibly1 in ten stops I will find something to buy if the plants are freshly delivered. Lowes and HD are generally where orchids go to die (IMHO) and get lifted to the big greenhouse in the sky. they are totally ignored after they are placed on the shelf but are in perfect health and sturdy growth when delivered to stores.
I believe the grower at Sunbulb is Robert Palmer and the AOS photographer Greg Allikas had written an article about Palmer, calling him the best orchid grower I know and I have to agree. I Have noticed several plants same as yours but I passed as I already have several nodosas. I always examine closely the media that sunbulb uses and try to figure out exactly what they are using and have noticed they sprinkle some florikan controlled release fertilizer in their media.

they are absolute great plants for beginners to grow out and not spend to much trying to learn how to grow one out.

this one is a beauty for sure. the smell is very nice at night also with just these 2 open. Have to look more often.

And indeed anyone that can stick an orchid in a bag and make it grow is top of best the growers list IMO. The mix seems to be bark some perlite sparse charcoal and always what I assumed is Osmocote time release. It does work.

I bought a B. Nodosa from Lowe's a couple of weeks ago. I immediately replanted it as it was in mostly soil which I read this orchid doesn't like. It has one flower stem and it seems to be growing. I'm hoping it flowers. Can't wait. I hear such good things about these. Glad yours is doing well!

they use real small bark charcoal and some perlite. it looks like mud when it breaks down.

replanting it is fine they dont mind and often it wakes them up some

I use the what is my standard mix for them 2 parts orchiata bark 1 part charcoal, medium if you can find it, and medium sponge rock if you can find it.

Last medium sponge rock I bought looked more like dredged up sand. booo

Mines very sweet, going strong, give them lots of light and water they do fine..

it bloomed a few months ago and they got knocked off.

only knocked one off this time.

has more on the way.

grows all the time.

never stops.

its slowly gaining some size and root power .

the smell of just these 3 flowers lights the whole porch up at night..
