Another plant that I have had for years and kept for some reason unknown because it has never bloomed. Probably one of my old auction bargains way back when.

I now have a reason! What interesting colors. When I saw it on the bench my immediate reaction was "whoa! What the %&((^$ is that?" The picture doesn't do it justice as is typical and I had to ask my wife to describe the colors. She says "dusky coral" with an orange throat. I have no clue what "dusky coral" looks like but I'll take her word for it. Obviously women name all the modern paint colors.

Anyway... an old school cross done 60+ years ago in CA.
This is just straight old Cattleya now according to RHS. I have found only 1 pic of this cross and it was orange.

Glad I hung onto it all these years.

Very nice!! I regularly threaten to throw away plants that don't bloom, but can never actually do it... Glad you kept this one!

Beauty. And the color, at least as it appears on my screen, is mauve, I believe.
