Default Cattleya gaskelliana alba

I don't know if this truly counts as an alba, as there's a fair amount of yellow in the throat. But lots of very well-scented blooms and a great many new leads, so whatever variety of this species it is, I'm pretty happy with it.

Beautiful - I love the elegance of these white blooms.

Nice background color too. I think it complements the yellow on the throat and gives it a warm feeling overall.

Gorgeous and beautifully grown. The term "alba" just means that there is no red pigment (anthocyanin). Having yellow, it's still alba. No pink or red.

Ah, very good! Thank you for the explanation. I was under the mistaken belief that alba meant there could be nothing other than white. Glad to know better from now on.

Right... Albas can be white or green, have some yellow as well. (In fact, I have an Ansellia africana var. alba that is actually very yellow, var. lutea is a better description , but the alba designation is also correct, there's not a bit of red anyplace)
