Default Cattleya Penang 'Black Caesar' AM/AOS (Nigrella x bowringiana)

Picked this one up about a year ago from Waldor after Kim had given it a glowing review. It has done well, putting out 2 mature growths and 1 new growth that is very close to mature. Seems like this plant is constantly adding new growth, should be huge in a few years!

The blooms on this are great, really hard to photograph because of the intense purple. Very fragrant, but hard to pinpoint an analog.

I did my best to capture these but any suggestions on setups would be appreciated!

Excellent captures and very very nice flowering! The variations in colour under the different light conditions is really great too.

For fun slip a piece of white paper behind the plant, or better, behind the flower. That will let you get the best white balance and the “truest” color. I say that in quotes bc it is the truest to the sensor in the camera

I have to try the white background. Not sure why I got convinced that flat black had to be the best.

Light backgrounds may make you work a bit harder to mange lighting... black backgrounds hide shadows so light placement isn't an issue. White/light ones you can get shadows where you don't want them.
