Default C. Lulu Land

This is definitely an interesting name - Lulu Land.

I bought the 'wrong' orchids hehe. I was actually looking for C. Lulu, but didn't pay enough attention to the full name. So this is how I ended up with C. Lulu Land heheh.

The two different plants I purchased aren't clones, and this one is a first flowering of one of the plants. The flower bud started to open just this morning, and is now maybe half open.

It is looking very nice. This hybrid is a cross between C. Lulu and C. aclandiae

It will be interesting to later see what the colours end up to be ----- once it colours up that is. Maybe pink ----- will see!

These phone-pics were taken just before sun-down with my old Samsung S2. The pics are ok. A lot were blurry because this phone-cam doesn't do well when lighting level is a bit low.

Very happy to share these pics with everybody here on OrchidBoard!

Update with pics of the flower more open - maybe even fully open. Just captured with various amount of light into the lens, and slightly differing observation angles.

The flower happened to have a nice perfume as well when I decided to see if it has a scent.

I didn't notice any sheath during spike development - so a sheathless spiking.

Nice blooms despite being not what you really wanted.

Thanks for visiting this thread Diane!

Totally agree ----- the mistake turned out nicely in the end.

When I was searching online, I was looking for a parent member of C. Caudabec Candy ...... which is C. Lulu. Only realised ----- oops! --- after the order arrived.

I'm a fan of the aclandiae type spots ----- sort of like the very-ripened banana pattern haha. This one really looks to be strongly influenced in appearance by C. aclandiae. Thanks again Diane!

The column is quite deep violet in the shade. More pink coloured in the sun. The last pic (taken above) was captured with a macro lens (as compared with the first Samsung S2 phonepics).

Hi Diane! Great question you asked ----- about the fragrance. This flower has a nice fragrance. No unpleasant scent at all with this one.

When the light breeze is around, the breeze is able to get the nice scent around ----- and definitely able to smell the nice perfume in the growing area.

From my first glance at the flower, I didn't expect there to be much of a scent - just due to some sort of impression. It got me by surprise!

Lucky x 2!
I find fragrance is seldom mentioned when sellers are describing orchids they are trying to sell unless the plant is a one known for its perfume.
Sellers on ebay generally use the description box to rail on about postage and their return policy rather than actually describe the plant they are trying to sell.

I agree Diane! The descriptions from a lot of sellers could certainly be improved. You'll probably encounter or have come across one particular seller that seems to have a pattern of placing 'very rare' just after the orchid name in the listing description hehehe. Not just for a few orchids ----- but pretty much all of them hehehe. And they're also generally little baby plants (which is ok haha) ..... but they are generally baby plants in baby pots for relatively high price (not that I'm against it ..... as sellers can put the price they like - I personally have no issue with their pricing).

I think I did purchase a couple of plants from that seller in the past though - a couple of years ago. Quality is good ...... just that the 'very rare' thing (even though actually not rare) is quite amusing hehehe. I mean that in a good way though. The particular seller is a good sort I reckon hehe.

Have a good day ahead Diane!
