Nice results rbarata! My approach for some catts are very similar. Wide and deep pot, except I use scoria. I'm not sure where you apply the water, but I apply mine toward the outter region of the pot (spraying a lot of water into the media in a band around the outskirts of the pot until water trickles out from the drainage holes). And I also spray some water closer in toward the plant, but nowhere near as much as I apply in the outter regions.

The extra leaf is nice too! While they do 'classify' orchids ------ the orchid doesn't know that (hahaha). So we see what orchids do and are capable of.

Humidity is very low, between 15 to 20%. The medium has sphagnum mixed with LECA and a layer at the bottom so I spray the medium every two days till water drops start to appear at the drainage holes. When temps get higher than 35 C I water normally, every 3 to 4 days. One thing I do is to position the pot so that its bottom is in the air to allow water inside to evaporate faster.

Well, surprisingly the strange structure I mentioned earlier was a sheath...some photos of the spike.
This species has somewhat long spikes (20 cm according IOSPE) so it still has a long way to go...my fingers are crossed.

It seems it doesn't like as much light as I initially thought, considering its habitat. Also, as I always got contraditing information about the temperature, IOSPE seems to be the most correct: cool growing.

There some rupiculous that I still couldn't bloom: millery, kautskiana, etc. Future projects, I think...
