Default Favorite Orchids

I know it is almost impossible, but when something blooms for the first time it often instantly becomes my newest favorite... here are two of mine right now.

Cycd. Spotted Hornet 'SVO' FCC/AOS X Cyc. Warscewiczii 'SVO' AM/AMOS

and

Cattleya "Emerald Queen"

These are two of my all time favorites. I've got RLC George King' Serendipity' and LC Busy Bev 'Blue Jewel'. I think everybody knows George King, so I don't feel like I need to say anything about that, but I would like to comment on why Busy Bev takes one of my top spots.

For one, the color is amazing. It also has great form. I love the fat round petals with the darker colored wide lip. But it also blooms several times a year. It blooms as soon as the new growths mature (you can actually see the buds peeking out before the growth has even finished growing). It blooms on every new growth. The one in the picture is a smaller division I made from my big one to give to a friend, but my big one is constantly growing, and the growths don't mature at the same time, so it always has growths at different levels of maturity, so they don't bloom at the same time, which means it is practically always in bloom. My big one blooms probably four or five times a year. It's also just a vigorous, hardy plant. I would recommend it to anyone. I got it from Odom's. I haven't checked in a while, but if you want one, check there first.

Both are wonderful JS. I love the apricot colour of the George King 'Serendipity'. Also love the contrasting purple violet colour and form of the Busy Bev. Nice name too.

I reckon they took some of these amazing orchid flower patterns and have borrowed the pattern in certain sci-fi and dinosaur tv and movies haha.

as compared with Click Here.

I wasn't able to find (online) a better representation, but pretty sure I've seen them borrow patterns like that for certain sci-fi alien shows. Will provide some links if I can find those!

My personal favourite cattleya is a cultivar of Rlc. Memoria Helen Brown, linked to 'Sweet Afton'.

I've arbitrarily labelled my personal favourite as:

Rlc. Memoria Helen Brown 'Sweet Afton m. Splash'
