Question Regarding Epidendrum Longirepens Female
Default Question Regarding Epidendrum Longirepens

Hello Everyone,

Does anyone here grow Epidendrum Longirepens? I'm looking to grow this orchid in my terrarium. I chose this orchid not because of the flowers, but because of the conditions it can thrive in. I need something that can take quite a bit of light and tolerate warmer conditions. It also needs to be a micro-miniature orchid, taking up no more space than 3 inches by 4 inches.

Would anyone suspect that this epi could tolerate 3000-4000 FC of light for 10 hours a day? There is a fan blowing on the area in my terrarium. It also has 80%-100% humidity at all times. The area I'd like to place it is right underneath a 100W equivalent LED bulb. It's probably around 80-85 degrees in that area if I had to estimate. The rest of the tank sits at around 70-75.

If anyone else has suggestions for a different plant, please let me know. I'm not really a huge fan of the flower, but just need something that can tolerate the conditions.

Another suggestion... One of the rupiculous Laelias. (OK, they're Cattleyas now) Some get too big but some stay little... L. (C.) liliputiana lives up to its name. These not only tolerate, but want, full sun.
