My new Laelia harpophylla Male
Default My new Laelia harpophylla

Added this one to my collection.
I own an harpophylla already but it's a L. harpophylla (Caliman x Sandra) which I think has a yellow to whitish flower while this one has the orange flower.
It came to me from Equagenera through one of the usual vendors where I buy my plants.

Some photos:

nice looking plant! enjoy it in good health

if i can ask a side question...can you post a pic of this plant stand from farther away? I notice the intricate wire wrapping in the pics and i am curious about the whole set up?

Sure, bought it to get more available space for small pots.
As the pots diameter are smaller than the circles in the structure, I managed to find this solution using gardening wire (small pots = light wheight = wire resists).

It has bloomed already. The flowers of this one seems larger that the ones of 'Caliman' x 'Sandra' (my first one).
One more week and I can compare the two side by side (with photos, obviously).

Anyway, here's some photos to enjoy...its color is like you see in the photos.

The rupicolous Laelias are all quite pretty, aren't they! The combination of the vibrant orange tepals and the pale ruffled lip is very nice.

The orange colour is so nice. The bridal gown lip is incredibly nice and elegant too.

Below there are some photos of my second harpophylla, var 'Caliman x Sandra'. The diference from my other harpophylla (previous posts) is the number of flowers per spike. The C x S has 3 to 4 flowers per spike while the first one has only one.
All the rest seems to be the same (shape, colour, size).

rbarata ----- that orange colour is incredibly nice! Reminds me of sunkist - and I love sunkist! Beautiful shape too once again. Refreshing to see.

This one is, definitely, a species I recommend to everyone: easy to grow, small (more space), large flowers (relatively to plant size), vibrant colour, cheap (at least here: 15€ / 18 USD), etc.
