Now buds are slowly turning toward the sunlight, aligning themselves nicely. Few more days the resupination process will complete, and the flower will be ready to bloom.

Strong lemony scent, similar to that of a Catt. walkeriana; according to OrchidRoots, it has 75% walkeriana in it:

The buds finally opened.

But what happened that flower with funky looking top sepal?

Cattlianthe Final Blue-20190923_105830-jpg

Oh, no! The dorsal sepal has somehow fused with the column! Two out of four flowers show the deformity. Thankfully, the other two appear to be normal... Maybe the summer heat was the culprit, or maybe the fertilizer was wrong. I hope that it is just a random thing and that I would get normal flower in next season.

Still, the color is super nice That deep blue-purple color is just gorgeous.

Still lovely flowers despite the deformities!! Fingers crossed that it will bloom normally next year.

I have a question for you; when the sheath appeared, did the buds start filling it almost immediately, or is there first an empty sheath for a while? That's what mine is doing, and I've been staring at that sheath for a month!

Sorry for late reply. In my case, it can happen two ways. the buds might emerge as newest growth matures, or a sheath appears first and then the buds slowly grows afterwards. BTW, mine sits on a south facing windowsill without any shades.
