Default Cattleya Magairlin (nobilior x aclandiae)

A friend here in Austin crossed his two awarded Cattleya (aclandiae ‘Stephen’ x nobilior ‘Michael’ which both received AM/AOS) and created a new cross, which he registered as C. Magairlin. We (Alamo Judging Center) awarded this flower with an AM/AOS today. Absolutely stunning flower that is hard as plastic and 3cm larger than either parent.

He gave me a flask a few years back, so I'm pretty excited to see mine bloom!

Whoa, it’s a beauty! If I was just looking at the first two pictures I would have guessed that it was a lot more delicate of a flower, something like the labiates. That is a VERY nice cross

I was talking to the breeder the other day and we are both surprised no one else has thought to cross these two species before. Amazing!
