Default Cycnoches question

My Cycnoches has finished its first bloom and in reading on the care of this species you are to remove the bulbs from the pot and separate each bulb. My question; I have read that some say to remove the roots at this point and I have also read to leave the roots attached to each bulb, what is the correct procedure.

Our South Florida Orchid shows have just started and I will be looking for more of this species.
Thanks

Check out this article for care of this group: Sunset Valley Orchids - Superior Hybrids for Orchid Enthusiasts

I personally don't separate the bulbs, nor do I cut the roots off.
