Default Cycnodes JEM's Caramel Apple

This is Mormodes horichii x Cycnoches warscwiczii - I can detect no scent (yet), but the flowers have just opened. The petals and sepals are dark mahogany brown, the lip is shiny red. This poor plant was gnawed by a couple of caterpillars, and took several tumbles. The flowers don't look too beatup, all things considered.
Cheers - Nancy

Wow that is cool looking! Is this as open as the flowers will get? If not can you post a picture of when the flower opens fully? I would love to see it!

Beautiful color on those flowers, Nancy. Too bad about the caterpillars. I've never had a problem with them here, but will keep an eye out this spring when the plants go back outdoors. And judging by the parents of your hybrid, I bet you'll be able to detect a nice fragrance after the flowers have been open for a few days. Congratulations!

Great looking plant and flowers, Nancy. A little 'rough and tumble' seems to build caracter and strength.

Follow-up photo...these flowers are lasting very well - about 10 days and counting. The flower is much more attractive fully open. Has what I'd consider a fairly typical catasetum-type scent: combination of bananas, vanilla, plastic, hints of mothball and spearmint. Pleasant!
You can see the gnawing/bruising of a few chomps and spills - still, an arresting flower. Very substantial and shiny.
Regards - Nancy
