First blooming for me. An ebay buy. plant was kinda beat up when I got it but it is in an 8 inch basket and rather large. I think it smells like pineapple!

Well mine is in the greenhouse right now for the winter. It gets diffused bright light, high humidity, and warm temps. as of Dec 23rd it is now in full growth. Dont skimp on the water when its in growth. I water mine about once every 2 days. It never dries out completely. I also fertilze when its in growth with quarter strength fertilizer once a week.

Default Hooked on Orchids

Thanks Scott...hope this one looks as good as yours!

Well, everyone, I'm hooked... Used to grow cymbidiums outside when we lived in LA but we've now relocated to the Pacific Northwest. I'm considering trying to establish a growing room in my basement. All with artificial light. I have a room that can be outfitted with HID light, drain, fans, heat.....humidity.... Has anyone else done this successfully and grown Cattleyas, Vandas and other warm environment high light orchids?

I love these too! I have one that was pretty beat up as well. Someone on this board told me that they are pretty beat up in a natural environment as well...but as I was reminded, we buy them for the flowers!
