Default A few Catasetums I saw in Costa Rica

Have not seen any in the wild, just in gardens. The first picture is from Arenal, the second from the lowlands near Manuel Antonio, where the dry season has started in Oct/Nov. Note that the dry season in Arenal is at a different time than at the Pacific.

It is always nice to see orchids in their natural habitat, almost natural in this case. How is the dry season in Arenal?

Well we never did meet up in CR. I saw only ornamental orchids, no plants in situ.
My hubby was working in a tree at about 120' and photographed some orchids for me- have to get them off his camera and post them for ID.

My schedule was so packed, it wouldn't even have been possible to meet if we wanted to. Saw about a dozen in situ at the base of Arenal, inlcuding a few flowering ones. And quite a few around Monteverde.

One thing is for sure: I will be in CR again! Best holiday ever.

To be honest, I don't know. I found this link which indicates that I was there during the dry season. Certainly didn't feel very dry at all.

In general, there are only two seasons in CR. May to Oct. is the rainy season in CR but varies just a little depends on the locations/alt. I love CR and glad you had a fantastic time too, Lars.
