Default Stan. oculata

I bought this one from Tiki George this year. I was amazed at the size and fragrance of the flowers, but they only lasted about 4 days. My whole living room smelled like "Vanilla Chapstick"! It had three spikes....but unfortunately, no two spikes were open at the same time.

Beautiful blooms, Jasen. The nice thing about having a plant that produces multiple spikes that don't bloom all at once is that you get to enjoy them over an extended period. The flowers look a little like S. wardii's blooms (and your description of the scent is also reminiscent of wardii's). But I've never grown oculata myself, so perhaps the two species are more closely related than some of the other species in the genus. Congratulations on your plant. The flowers look awesome.

Beautiful flowers, Jasen. I've had two Stanhopeas bloom for me this season, a S. costaricensis and S nigroviolacea var. tigrina. I have several more seedlings and divisions that I hope will reward me over the next few growing seasons. The flowers AND the scents are glorious!
