Default STANHOPEA COSTARICENSIS

Just got this plant a few months ago from Tropical Orchid Farms, Maui, HI. Has five buds which should be popping in the next few days. Will post more pictures as the flowers open.

Default Flowers open this morning

Here are the pictures of the five buds opening this morning. I apologize for the quality of the photos. The flowers have a light, sweet scent. Overall, they are pastel and very light in color, with some purple spotting.

Default Another Shot at a Single Flower

Here's another shot at a single flower. I really need a tripod and a better camera, as well as better camera skills!

Hi Dvespertilio,

Congrats! It's hard to confirm the ID, but looks like Stan costaricensis indeed (look at costaricensis ). When shotting Stans, try to pic one flower, in a perfect side view (as you can see in the link). Stan costaricensis have a clear indentation in the middle of the hypochile, as we can (more or less) see in your pic #2
