Default Ctsm. denticulatum

Hey Fellow Catasetum Enthusiasts,
I am new to Catasetum growing...I bought my first ones at the World Orchid Conference in Miami this spring...and a few seedlings since then.
Here are photos of the first one I've been able to bloom!
It is Ctsm. denticulatum, and the plant is about 6 to 8 inches tall.

Im soooo jealous!!!!!! This is the only plant that I have killed in years!! I bought another one this spring and its done nothing and I just had to carve a chunk of rot out of its largest p-bulb. What is your secret????? I love Catasetinae and Ive been super successful with about a dozen other plants, but this one is a mystery to me. How bright is your lighting, how much water do you give it, what media is it planted in and when did it start growing for you? Also, where did you get it? I REALLY appreciate ANY info you can give me with this one.

Here is a little cultural info - IOSPE PHOTOS

For those interested, I found it at Miranda Orchids in Florida - Orchids of Brazil. Price List

Sunset Valley Orchids in California has a few Catasetum and their Hybrids but is sold out on the denticulatum but you may want to contact them anyway

Hi Steve,
Dorothy has posted the vendor that I purchased this plant from...along with a few others. I am far from anything but a novice when it comes to growing this genera of orchids, so I'll just point you in the direction of where I got my cultural information from...and that goes back to Sunset valley Orchids. Fred Clark has some great culture information on catasetinae on his site.
Aside from that, here are a few details for the catasetinae I grow:
Growing media - sphagnum moss
Light - high, the same as my cattleyas
Water - when there is active growth (after the new growth is about 1 to 2 inches high), I keep them moist and fertilize heavily, when the leaves start to turn yellow, I let them dry, only watering them about once every 6 weeks.
Repotting - I am planning on repotting every 2 years based on Fred Clark's recommendation
Pests – Watch out for spider mites
By the way, Fred Clark will be coming to Homestead to give a talk on growing catasetinae on October 28th at the East Everglades Orchid Society monthly meeting. For those in the south Florida area who are interested, you might want to go. He told me that he is planning on giving the same talk he presented at the WOC in January, along with a little extra information. I'm planning on being there.

LOL...when ever my husband brings up the idea of moving I tell him that part of my criteria would be for it to be south of where we are (although I love it her)...so it's wouldn't be a 5 hr drive to orchid heaven in S FL

Thanks for the info guys. So basically, they like normal Catasetinae conditions. Its frustrating for me because thats what I provide but for some reason denticulatums dont do well for me. Grrrrrrr!!! Back to the drawing board I guess!
