Stanhopeas have, I guess, a kind of bizarre beauty - easy to see why some call them flying dragons and flying gargoyles...Coryanthes, to me, looks like a Stanhopea that has been pulled inside-out (and not in a kind and gentle way). Since I've only seen one in bloom (plenty of Stanhopeas, though) I would guess that either they are harder to grow and bloom, OR some people just don't think they are 'fetching.'
Can someone tell me how long the Coryanthes flowers last?
IMO, hybridizing things is fine, but what we *need* is a Stanhopea with flowers that last a week! That would be real progress and something worth having.
