Spike on new growth? Female
Default Spike on new growth?

This is my Catasetum cernuum and new growth is still quite small. Just over an inch tall.. growing nice roots but I haven't watered yet.

But I'm confused. What is this?? Too early for a flower spike isn't it?!

Some Catasetums grow their spikes alongside the new growth. I know Ctsm. tenebrosum does this. I've never growth Ctsm. cernuum before, so I'm not sure about this species.

Internet photos of the species shows immature growths with large spikes, so I'd say this species throws spikes alongside new growth.
