Even downpour is good... Fred Clarke's advice is "water like a monsoon" during the growing season. (and water running through the pot brings air into the root zone) Pretty hard to argue with success... Along with helping the plant to grow, the high moisture will help to keep spider mites (which are a major pest for Catasetinae, and which are encouraged by dryness) at bay.

Well, here's an update! The new growth is soldiering on and starting to get thick. It's been raining every day, sometimes several times a day. All my orchids seem to be loving it.

Beautiful! The growing season is still in full swing - that new growth may be quite substantial by the time it is ready to slow down. With it's rapid growth, fertilizing is important, much more so than with the "normal" slow-growing orchids.
