Catasetum planiceps Male
Default Catasetum planiceps

I'm convinced a catasetum bloom was the inspiration for the Darth Vader mask, maybe even this one.
Very easy to grow and propagate from bulbs and loves it outdoors in the semi-shade with morning sun. A second spike is also growing on.

Catasetum planiceps Female
Default

I'm pretty sure you have a female there...a little hard to tell for sure w/this species but it does look female. It would be cool if the other spike ended up being male.

The female flowers usually last a lot longer than male flowers so if it is and the next one is male then it'll be interesting for the comparison value.
