I can't believe this wonderfully weird and beautiful orchid was only $5. I saw it at Island Orchids discount table and I saw the name and I remember a you-tuber stating how great this orchid was and that it was a must have. She has great taste and so I scooped it up. It already had a spike and over the course of about 2 months it grew and grew. It grew the spike and a new psuedobulb at the same time so it took a while for the flower to develop. It finally opened today. It's smells like sweet licorice. It's potted halfway up in small lava rocks with a the second half consisting of sphagnum. It only has one flower. I'll never tire from the diversity of orchid blooms. This just may get me started on these. Great growing! Enjoy.

Thank you! I didn't think I wanted these stanhopea kind of orchids, but I wanted to give it a try. I heard the flowers don't last very long at all. However, I was not disappointed! I am in love now. I plan on getting more of these, the satisfaction and happiness from blooming this unique orchid is just great and it's just so very cool .

I have to admit that the spike was already there when I got it but the new growth was not. I nursed the spike and for that I can be proud of myself

Congratulations, what an exotic addition! We should think up a more attractive name than 'bucket orchid' to garner them some more attention

On its way out lasted a total of 4 days in pristine condition. By far one of the coolest orchids
