Got this as a gift from the man himself Fred Clarke. This is off his last release of Catasetums. Grapefruit is a personal favorite. Pretty excited to see what these flowers are going to look like. And yes it's going dormant and still pushing this out.

This should be a great cross. I'm curious to see the flowers.

The buds look dark. Is that true of yours too Orchidsarefun? I'd say that since it's only inherited one alba gene it might come out the 'normal' elegans colour. Except all the pics of elegans I can find show it as green and stripey. The only difference with the non-albas seems to be a pink blush to the column. Be interesting if it turns out darker than either parent.

Fred says the alba parent is dormant in passing it's genes. Should have the grapefruit pink color with a cool looking flower. Few more weeks and we'll all get to see.

Yes, in most cases alba genes are recessive: you need two of them to show them. So if they only come from one parent they don't show, because you only get one. My point was that the non-alba elegans seems to be hardly any different to the alba.

Having said that I went and looked up RN Grapefruit and it's darker than I remembered.
