Default Ctsm. Sanguineum x susan fuchs in spike!

The first of my ctsms to spike, and the fastest growing spike at that. Just 2 days ago the spike was only about an inch tall. Now it is well over 2 inches.

I don't think this is going to be a male flower, which is disappointing considering the females all look pretty much alike.

Still very new to the genus, but can it flower male one season, and then female another? I don't want to keep it if it only has female flowers. I much prefer the males.

I wouldn't care if it were male of female if it were a species, but hybrids are another matter. If I'm buying a hybrid, I'd rather them be male.

My understanding is that there are female, male, and hermaproditic flowers and any/all of these can appear on a spike at one time. Something about light levels and temps if I remember correctly (not sure what you need for a better chance at male flowers).

I think female flowers need more light? If I'm right put it somewhere a bit darker and you may still be lucky with any buds not yet formed.

Aww...I've been reading that you get female flowers with higher/more light so maybe try a slightly shadier spot next season? =\ I guess that's the advantage of some of the intergenerics in this family...you end up with the perfect flowers that have both sexes.
