Cyc. chlorochilon/warscewiczii? Male
Default Cyc. chlorochilon/warscewiczii?

I have this one in bloom, but I think it's a wrong name that came with it, it's marked as chlorochilon but my search skills says it's a warscewiczii, can someone confirm which one.

Warscewiczii. The petals are straight out on this guy. On chlorochilon, theyt will point up more. This is very common mistake. Nice looking plant.

Hmmmm, I think this is neither chlorochilon nor warscewiczii. The severely reflexed petals remind me more of ventricosum.

Thanks for all the answers and guesses, I been growing this under grow lights where the temperature has reached 26-27C in the summer month and a little colder in at the beginning about 23-24C.

this is Cychnoches ventricosum.

chlrochilon and warscewiczii have "flat" petals (actually, a bit curved to the front) , in the positions described by Kim.

ventricosum and lehmannii have petals that reflex to the back, as in this plant. the labellum in lehmannii is different as in this plant and very characteristic of the species.

I have searched most of the network and certainly agree with it is a ventricosum, now that it is explained by the curved petals, even the untrained eye has difficulty seeing it.

Now I'll try to talk to the gardener where I bought it and see what he says.

It's a beauty. How do you like the fragrance? If ventricosum's scent is anything like that of chlorochilon or warscewiczii, you should have no trouble detecting an intoxicating fragrance from a good distance away. Congratulations on the lovely blooms.

I wouldn't blame the gardener. George Carr has researched and written written about this group ( chlorochilon, lehmannii, ventricosum, warscewiczii) with a title similar as "One hundred years of confusion".
Your plant is very healthy and happy. But just in case you do not want it anymore....
