Arrow Catasetum fuchsii

They're male flowers ! That makes two odd ones I have in bloom ! The earlier pix before they were fully opened looked like they were mad at something !!!! This is a homely version of fuchsii !

How very cute, although the blooms are quite strange!

I have never seen this species and it is strange looking, even for Catasetum! I like it a lot though! I wonder how this one could be used in hybridizing. Do you think the physical characteristics of this species would transfer to the progeny?

Don't know but tell me and I'll send you some pollinia. My friend Stitz and I were just today trying to figure out how and with what it evolved the "lip" ! It looks like it has used The lower petal AND the 2 lower sepals because there are ONLY 3 showing on every bloom ! THAT'S strange, and more like a Paph !!!

WOW....never though i would see one these here!!! one of the most wanted in my WL.
congrats on the bloom.
by the way, do the lateral petals eventually point upwards as the bloom matures?
i am asking this because the pic i once seen before had all the lateral sepals pointing upwards, so from front they look like a bunny head.

Steve - out of the 6 F1 off spring, the four that I can find pictures of definatley favor the fuchsii shape. Look at the posterior part of the lip in these pictures.
