Default Coryanthes leucocorys

This orchid has one of the most magnificent buds i have ever seen

It belongs to a Coryanthes leucocorys and the flower was not too bad either. It smelled strongly of peppermint and lasted about one week, but i still think it is worth growing these orchids, because the development of the buds is just like miracle too observe

From the back. Not a lot of room for anybody to escape from.....

Coryanthes are great!! This should be posted in the Stanhopea/Catasetum area. I wonder if a mod can move this? How is the scent with this one?

Sorry for posting this in the wrong place.
A friend of mine said it was the uggliest thing she had ever seen, when i showed her a picture so its not an orchid for everybodys taste .
The way these orchids coexist with bees and ants, and how they are dependent on each other to reproduce and survive, is also facinating.
I have been so fortunate to be in my growing area at the right moment, and when the buds open you can sometimes hear it. It takes 3-4 hours for the flower to open up fully, and the minty smell makes it worth growing this orchid alone.
I think that if "sombody" created these orchids, this "sombody" must have a greate sence of humor

How strange. Moving this to the Catasetum alliance.
