Fdk. After Dark 'SVO Black Pearl' FCC/AOS
This is the first bloom of this clon in my collection... flowers are very dark purple, and look black in real life... However, flowers growns under warmer conditions (warm nights) seems to be lighter in color looking more reddish than black... According to a message sent by Fred Clarke to a friend of mine in Venezuela, there was a mutation rate in the mericloning process of approx. 2%. I have seen the photo of one of this mutations, which produces picotee flowers and is just fantastic!

I agree that this is a amazing orchid. The way its going I am sure to buy this in the future. For Christmas I am receiving a Epidendrum Salmon Sunrise, a Encyclia Adenocaule, and a Gongora Histrionica. All are suppose to be superb orchids and the Epidendrum is suppose to have six spikes! I hope to have a collection nearly as stunning as yours Ramon. By the way are you filling up that greenhouse of yours yet? Happy Holidays! AL

Great job of blooming this fantastic clone. I have no luck blooming mine. Did you cut out watering the plant to initiate the buds? Your photos of this clone are some of the best I've seen. It's not an easy one to photograph.
