Mormodes polinator bees
I just want to share this movie for fun, because several euglossae bees were visiting the flowers of this mormodes when I put it outside of my home. I keep inside of my house the catasetinae plants when they are in the blooming stage, in order to avoid these bees and their relatives. The reason, the flowers will not last even a single day if I keep them outside. But in this case I wanted to show how it looks like when they are visiting your plant in a sunny and brigth day. Hope you enjoy the film.

Those bees are really big! You must have to protect your plants from attack all the time! I always take it for granted that I never have to protect my flowers from bees because we dont have them (Euglossinae bees that is).

Why would you want to protect them from bees? Those bees are the coolest. I have never seen green bees. That video is super, thanks for posting.

These bees are stingless Steve and they have a size similar to the honey bee and we do not have to worry about them. I was not clear when I said that I have to protect the flowers from the bees. The point is when the polinia is removed from the flower then in a couple of days the flower dies. Instead if I keep the plant inside the bees cannot find the plant and the flowers will last close to 15 days. It is really fun to see these bees on the flowers trying to get something but they are cheated by the fragance of the flower.

Great video Bruno !!!! Those bees look really cool and the flowers make a nice display. Just like Tindo I'm curious. Do the bees get honey out of the plant or are they just their polinators???
