Thank you

Based on your advice, it seems I don't have much to worry about. I do see one issue that could come up and that's spider mites. Spider mites have appeared in the past on my other plants and I am aware that these are prone to those kinds of pests. I have taken care of the previous infestations so I hope it doesn't get them because they are such a nightmare to deal with.

It might be useful to treat with a systemic miticide ahead of the problem. Yes, spider mides love these thin-leaved plants. I am surprised, with your humidity, that they are a problem.. they love "warm and dry".

Spider mites can be prevented by spraying the entire plant with water once a week. If they get rained on more often than that you shouldn't need to worry about them. It is likely the plant will go dormant and lose all its leaves during your dry season.

I suppose ther are kinds of spider mites adapted to our conditions. Infestations don't happen very often. Only a handful of plants ever had them but they were really bad infestations. It was so bad that I had to get rid of some of those plants.

That's good to know. It has been raining at least once a week for a few weeks now. I'll be keeping a close eye on it to make sure they don't become a problem if they do show up.
