That's interesting, Dea. I'm of the opposite view. Fragrance, for me, is usually the deciding factor. Being colorblind, lots of colors (although not all) are lost on me. So fragrance is pretty important. I do find bulbophyllums fascinating. Since I spend enough 12-hour shifts smelling all sorts of foulness at work, however, it would not be pleasurable to come home to something that smells like decomposing meat--or, in the case of Stanhopea connata, an old diaper. Still, I really do like to think about things like this--that there's a pollinator (probably a close relative of my pug) somewhere that is drawn to this aroma.

stinky flowers confuse the minds senses and can affect your mood also

you could be having a great day and then the SMELL.

I do prefer pleasant aromas from my flowers.

The stinky ones you let your friends get a big whiff of and before you do tell them how wonderful life is

Mother in Law plant for sure!!!

Pollination is the name of the game. I have a cat that misses her litter box all too frequently in a bathroom so unpleasant smells are not a deterrent for me. Love her and stinky orchids. Maybe looks ARE everything!
