Saccatum Catesetum in bloom.
Default Saccatum Catesetum in bloom.

Growing location, is West Texas. My Catasetum Saccatum orchid is in bloom for the first time, another spike is coming. Grows in filtered sun under a large oak tree for most of the year on a cork mount. The rest of the year it is inside under grow lights when in bloom or outside in a polytunnel greenhouse with a heater. I also own a Catesetum Incurvum I will post pictures of that in the comments, and you can see how the flowers are close yet different. I found the Saccatum flowers were larger and the frills were different.

This is the Incurvum Catasetum I also own. You can see the difference between the two.

The two things that do not help with growing in West Texas is the hail we get every so often. I have to run and grab plants.

Cool! With the arid conditions of west Texas, have you considered potting in the PET method?

isurus79, I have a few in PET. The ones doing good in that are staying. However, I have those who seemed to do better on cork. I have seen more root growth in them, faster growth, and good blooming. I go by a plant by plant basis. This year, most of the Catesetums that bloomed were on cork. I even got multiple spikes. They do get heavy on the cork. I hang them up using clamps rated for heavy and fishing line rated for over 300 lbs weight. They sit the season out under an oak tree.
