Catasetum gladiatorium x barbatum Female
Default Catasetum gladiatorium x barbatum

This is a rather odd (but I think quite interesting) primary hybrid from Sunset Valley Orchids. Unnamed. This blooming with male flowers is what it is doing now (and has in most years past) Just for contrast, I include a picture of the female flowers I got 2 years ago on the same plant.

Very, very faint. I'll give it another whiff in the morning, maybe it will be stronger. I love the fringed lip.

No fragrance that I can detect this morning. Maybe one of those things that tends to get lost in hybridizing, alas.
