My sense of time these days isn't great, but apparently my orchid's is even worse. Sometime (earlier this year? I think?) my Millenium Magic had its leaves attacked by spider mites, dropped them, and apparently went dormant. After sitting that way all summer (with me not watering), it's suddenly decided that November is the time for new growth.

I've started watering, since I wasn't sure what else to do. Should I just continue as though winter is a normal time to grow? It's not like it gets _cold_ here, though there will (someday, I hope) be some temperature drop. Do I need to worry more about overwatering than I would during the summer?

I'd keep it dry until the roots are 4" long. However, since your temps don't get below 55 degrees and you've got a complex hybrid, you don't have to worry much about rot if you do water. I honestly don't know why someone would want to water a plant that doesn't need it, but the plant will be fine either way.
