Orchids teach patience...they don't do anything fast. The best antidote to obsession with one orchid is to have lots of them. Get them in bloom at different times of the year, and you'll always have SOMETHING in bloom. (You might not have space in the house for anything else, but that's a minor sacrifice...)

It looks fairly pointed, so my guess is a new growth.
